From Green Impact auditor at the London School of Economics to owner of The Weekly Shop - hear Diana's story of why plastic pollution drove her to set up her own business.

Since moving from Vancouver to London in 2014 to study International Development and Anthropology at LSE, Diana was shocked to see the amount of unnecessary packaging sold in UK stores. Growing up in the sea side city of Vancouver, gave Diana and appreciation for nature from a very young age and this inspired her to become an activist for the environment. 

Whilst studying at LSE, Diana volunteered to become a Green Impact auditor as she wanted to see just what LSE were doing to tackle environmental issues across the university. This experience helped Diana to see that she wasn't alone in being an environmentalist and the training allowed her to meet like minded students. The social aspect of the training as well as the skills learnt in environmental auditing, has stayed with Diana throughout the years. 

Since graduating in 2015, Diana worked for 2 years at an International NGO but felt that she wasn't having the impact needed to make a real difference, which is when she decided to create her own business - The Weekly Shop! 

The Weekly Shop is an online plastic free shop offering alternatives to plastic packaging we see and buy on a daily basis. From household items to toiletries, the shop is for those who are tired of going to shops and brining back mountains of unrecyclable plastic. There are now many viable alternatives, making it easier to go plastic free. 

You can bring The Weekly Shop to your campus, as Diana hosts plastic free pop up stalls! These stall will give your students the opportunity to see the range of different products they can buy to reduce their plastic consumption and would be a great addition to any of your Green Week or sustainability weeks.
