Our research

Fossil fuel divestment and responsible investing

As part of our work to drive the transition of investments from fossil fuels to renewables within the education sector, we carried out national survey of students and staff in higher and further education.

Our research in 2015 found that 44 per cent of students, student officers and staff surveyed believed the UK Government is not taking a lead in addressing climate change and 62 per cent thought that the government is not doing enough to encourage the use of renewable energy.

We also know that 74 per cent of staff and students think that their university should buy renewable energy, and 57 per cent agreed that their university should make a commitment to being powered by 100 per cent renewable energy

You can read the full results of the survey here.
