Students, are you growing?

If you are growing food at your university – whether on a big growing site, an allotment, or a windowsill – we want to know about it!

NUS’ sustainable food programme, Student Eats, works with students to set up food enterprises, embedding sustainable food production across campuses, curriculums and communities. More and more students are growing (and sometimes selling) sustainable food, and making a positive impact not only on their campus, but on their communities, the planet and themselves, too.

We know that students are switched on to the importance of locally-grown food, and growing it themselves – but we want to know more! We want to know who is growing, what you’re growing, how you’re doing it, and what motivates you. In doing this, we’d also like to be able to connect students interested in growing food, to build solidarity and share skills. A just and sustainable future needs us to band together.

So, here’s what we’re asking. If you’re growing any food (even if it’s some parcels of parsley or clusters of coriander!), we’d like you to share a very short video (5-30 seconds) on Twitter, using the hashtag #studentsaregrowing and tagging @nus_sustainable. In the tweet, you could let us know a bit about you and what you’re up to.

Through this, we hope that (on the hashtag) ‘growing students’ will be able to connect, and – with the mini videos – we’d like to make a video to celebrate your budding, blossoming, bulbous efforts!

We look forward to seeing your videos, and invite you to use your creativity in their creation!
