Every year, we work with the Higher Education Academy to ask students about their attitudes towards sustainable development. We know that students care about sustainability. We see it from the actions thousands are taking on their campuses and in their communities.
This research makes it even more clear how much students care about sustainability.
We’ve conducted this research five years in a row now, and these results have stayed exactly the same. Despite stuff like the rise in fees, and the crash of the jobs market, these numbers have stayed exactly the same.
For the first time this year, we also surveyed employers. As well as finding out what skills and attributes students want to get from their time in education, we were interested to find out what skills and attributes employers want from emerging graduates – especially relating to sustainability.
We found that employers thought that a range of skills for sustainability were important when they were recruiting, and we’ll be building on this research in the years to come to ensure that sustainability becomes a joined up experience through education into employment.
