Student Eats

Student Eats works with students and staff at colleges and universties to create a more equitable food system by putting healthy and sustainable food at the heart of campuses across the UK

For full programme information, head to www.studenteats.org.uk.

In the last eight years, Student Eats has supported social enterprises to trade sustainable food as well as to grow food on campuses at around 100 universities and colleges across the UK. Groups have received a number of awards in connection with their enterprise and growing projects such as Green Gown and the Urban Food Hero awards. Student Eats has also won a prestigious Silver Gilt medal at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Benefits of the programme include measurable positive impacts on participants’ attitudes and behaviours with regards to the food they grow, eat, buy and/or sell. This could include reducing stress and supporting positive mental wellbeing; supporting the creation of food enterprises that provide students with vital employability skills; increasing access to affordable, healthy & sustainable food on campus; and engaging academics in sustainability, including the provision of both outdoor and enterprise learning opportunities.
