We supported UKSCN and Oxfam to survey primary and secondary schools teachers on their views on climate change and education.  Here's what they told us...

In our research with school pupils, we've learnt that students studying in primary and secondary education:

• 86% agree that all schools and colleges should be doing things to help the environment
• 85% agree that all schools and colleges should be encouraging and helping pupils like me to do things to help the environment

We supported research commissioned by Oxfam and the UK Student Climate Network (UKSCN) to carry out research with teachers in primary and secondary education to better understand their views on climate change in education overall and within the curriculum.  352 teachers responded to the survey, completed in May 2019 and delivered by You Gov.  The findings revealed:

• 89% agree that “UK students should always be taught about climate change, its implications for environments and societies around the world and how these implications can be addressed”
• 69% think there should be much or slightly more teaching in UK schools about climate change, its implications for environments and societies around the world, and how these implications can be addressed
• 75% say they have not had adequate training to educate students on climate change
