Investigating a rental model for SU clothing purchases

In 2016, NUS began work on investigating the potential for a clothing rental scheme for students' unions - applying the principles of the circular economy to the clothing purchased by students' unions for staff uniforms, campaigns and promotions.

The process started by conducting research into how students’ unions procure their clothes, what they’re buying, how much they’re spending and what happens to the clothes after they were used by staff or campaigners.

The project hopes to make bespoke clothing reusable, and cut down on a tremendous amount of clothing waste.
