We asked students their views on reusing, repairing and renting electronics whilst they are at university...
As part of NUS' monthly Student Opinion omnibus survey, 1105 students in higher education showed a significant gap in reuse and repair behaviour, for example:
- 24% say it is very much like them to fix or repair things the own rather than throw away or buy replacements
- 34% say it is very much like them to look for things that will be long lasting when buying things like electronics and clothes
- However 56% say they would be interested in a rental, repair and maintenance service for electronic good used during the academic year
- 45% say they (or parents / guardians) spent £250 or less on new items to take with them when they started university
