SOS-UK are excited to announce the launch of our new Learning Academy, designed to support our work in enabling more students to be learning and leading for sustainability.
By increasing our training offering, we are growing the reach of our work to progress sustainability across the education sector at a time when it couldn’t be more important. We want to ensure we are equipping both students and staff with the confidence and capabilities to carry this work forward in their personal, educational and professional lives.
We have over 10 years’ experience successfully delivering sustainability and social responsibility training to students, students’ union officers, university and college staff and other organisations. SOS-UK, formerly NUS’ Sustainability team, has become well recognised for high quality and engaging workshops and training making the Learning Academy a natural development to our provision.
“The process developed and promoted various useful skills like data analysis, critical thinking, interviewing, etc. which would be applicable to most employment positions” – Student feedback, 2019
“An invigorating and fun exercise with a well-structured programme that proved to be extremely interesting and insightful.” – Student workshop feedback, 2018
“[What was most useful about the workshop] …working collaboratively with other staff and Students' Union representatives on ideas for campaigns, as it was an opportunity to get different perspectives.” – University staff member, 2020
We want to ensure students and staff leading on sustainability and social responsibility within their students’ unions and institutions are suitably equipped to take on their responsibilities with confidence and courage to inspire others. Our range of training offerings aim to do exactly that, by offering thematic and role specific workshops throughout the year, we aim to see more students and staff developing the knowledge, understanding, skills and attributes to help create a fairer and more prosperous society for everyone. Our programme of training opportunities includes education and sustainability, Carbon Literacy training, wellbeing workshops exploring alcohol awareness and sustainable food workshops. We also have a number of project and campaign development workshops to ensure passion is turned to purpose effectively.
SOS-UK Learning Academy offers a range of face-to-face and online learning, relevant to a range of audiences.
All our trainings are open to any institution, organisation or individual regardless of current or previous participation in our programmes.
