The fourth annual Global Goals Teach In is due to take place 22nd February – 5th March 2021!
The annual campaign calls on educators to pledge to include the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development, otherwise known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their teaching and learning throughout the two weeks. The 2020 campaign saw over 300 educators reach 25,000 students in discussion around the SDGs and their relevance to their subject.
Are you an educator? Pledge now to incorporate the SDGs in your teaching, learning and assessment throughout the Teach In, and share with your colleagues.
Are you a student or elected officer? Call for your lecturers and teachers to pledge. Let them know why you’d like the SDGs to be embedded within your teaching and learning. You can even use our template email here. You can also fill out our student interest form here to let us know you're interested, and we can try and approach your institution to encourage them to take part.
The Teach In aims to:
To take part, educators pledge to include the SDGs in their teaching, learning, and assessment in one or more of their courses during the two weeks. This happens through case studies, debate, discussion, group work, or simulations relating to topics included within the SDGs. Ideally, students learn about the SDGs in a way that’s relevant to their course.
There are 17 Global Goals covering environmental, social and economic sustainability. They provide a useful framework for educators to introduce and discuss the breadth of sustainability and apply it to their discipline in a meaningful way.
The Teach In is suitable for all educators, from all forms of education and all disciplines. We welcome teachers, lecturers, trainers and anyone else to take part! To add some friendly competition, we will be releasing weekly updates with a leaderboard of the institutions that are reaching the highest % of their students with the Teach In, and the institutions with the highest number of educators who have pledged (see updates of the leaderboard here!).
Share your pledges and experience of the Teach In on social media using the hashtag #SDGTeachIn. Read our FAQs and visit our resources page for more support. If you have any questions about the Teach In, please contact hello@sos-uk.org.
