Our education programmes work to embed sustainability through all aspects of the student learning experience, ensuring all students leave formal education equipped to make the world a better place. 

All of our education programmes are underpinned by Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Though the universities, colleges, and students' unions that run these programmes may use other language, like Learning for Sustainability or Sustainability Education. ESD is described by the (former) HEA and QAA as: 

"ESD is the process of equipping students with the knowledge and understanding, skills, and attributes needed to work and live in a way that safeguards environmental, social, and economic wellbeing, both in the present and for future generations."

Our education programmes and support packages work with students’ unions and institutions to embed sustainability through all parts of student learning. Our change programme, Responsible Futures, uses a whole-institution approach to transform education whilst our For Good platform provides opportunities for individual students and courses to engage with sustainability in the context of their own discipline. Initiatives like SDG Curriculum Mapping can help institutions to launch their ESD work or take stock of where they’re at and our consultancy and bespoke support can provide that extra bit of support to get started in ESD or to take your work to its next stage.

Through engaging with our ESD programmes you support our vision to see all graduates leave formal education with the knowledge, skills, attributes, and values to make the world a better place. Alongside our paid-for programmes, campaigns like the SDG Teach In engage thousands of students and hundreds of staff every year in transforming education.

Our ESD programmes are recognised within the People and Planet University League and through the EAUC and AUDE Sustainability Leadership Scorecard and can be used as evidence for Goal 17: Partnerships in the THE SDG Ranking.
